The Platinum C250 3G presents a powerfully detailed performance, while being easy to position for the creation of the ultimate Platinum Series 3G home theatre system.
It benefits from the latest MPD III transducer, 2.5” RDT III mid-range driver, and twin 6” RDT III bass drivers, which combine to increase directivity and dynamic range.
It’s designed to deliver increased performance in a more compact cabinet arrangement then previous models (it actually replaces two models, the C150 2G and C350 2G), and when placed at the centre of a home theatre system,
the Platinum C250 3G’s impact and ability to propel a listener to the very heart of the action is undeniable.
Platinum series has always represented Monitor Audio’s engineering and design prowess and the 3rd generation is no exception. Monitor Audio’s UK-based design team has worked closely with the acoustic team to deliver an aesthetic which celebrates the performance components without overpowering its surroundings.
The Rigid Diaphragm Technology III (RDT III) cone has three new optimisations over its predecessor. Firstly, a new rear layer featuring two uniform layers of carbon fibre skin helps reduce cone breakup, as does an optimised rubber surround. Finally, an optimised cone edge treatment extends the passband of the drivers. When combined, these innovations significantly increase the useable bandwidth, enabling improvements to the crossover and final response of the speaker. The result: Platinum 3G mid and bass drivers boast the lowest distortion of any Monitor Audio speaker in its history.
The cabinet design on Platinum Series 3G is all new. Beautifully detailed and expertly crafted, our industry-leading attention to detail and passion for quality ensures that each cabinet is elegant and refined on the eyes, while being engineered for total acoustic performance.
Constructed using laminated layers of MDF to form a curved and braced super rigid 18-21mm cabinet on the rear with a 36mm thick baffle precision machined to create a unique curved front profile. The cabinets are then embellished with etched inlays to highlight the craftsmanship, before 16 layers of lacquer are added on top to create a beautiful, luxury piano gloss finish. A pure satin matte finish is applied to models finished in white – a contemporary statement in any interior.
