Product Overview
Experience the captivating sound of the JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker, meticulously crafted at the esteemed Acoustic Engineering Centre of Excellence in Northridge, California. Designed to complement the Stage series, this speaker embodies a perfect fusion of artistry and technology.
Its innovative 2.5-way design creates a precise and immersive soundscape. Featuring Next Generation HDI waveguide geometry, the JBL Stage 245C delivers expansive sound with exquisite detail, while the 1-inch Anodized Aluminum dome tweeter ensures crystal-clear highs.
Driven by quad 4.5-inch Polycellulose cone woofers, this speaker produces deep, resonant bass characteristic of JBL’s legacy. Whether rendering the subtle notes of a double bass or the thunderous impact of cinematic explosions, the Stage 245C does so effortlessly.
The JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker is a well-specified Centre Speaker intended to go with the JBL range of AV receivers. There are four 4.5” bass mid drivers and a centrally placed 1” tweeter. The maximum power handling is 150 Watts. They also feature a dual rear-firing port for extended bass down to 55Hz.
Also, the tweeter features a next-generation waveguide to distribute high frequencies up to 25kHz. Surround sound speakers and subwoofers are also available in the JBL range.
Available in Espresso or Latte woodgrain finishes, the Stage 245C is not only an auditory delight but also a visual centerpiece. Its solid color front baffles and matching grilles harmonize seamlessly with any decor, elevating both your audio experience and interior aesthetics.
5.25” Polycellulose bass/mid drivers
The four 4.5” bass/mid drivers, in the JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker, provide good dispersion for dialogue and special effects. Notably, the cones are made of ribbed Polycellulose. This material combines the best properties of cellulose and polypropylene.
That being improved distortion and better damping characteristics. Most cones were once made of paper pulp or cellulose as this is easy to shape. However, more modern materials are available such as polypropylene. This material does not absorb moisture and maintains its properties over time.
1” aluminium tweeter
A next-generation waveguide sits in the centre of the JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker. This contains a 1” tweeter that features an aluminium dome. This design has a stiff cone that is designed to provide extended ultra-high frequencies, up to 25kHz. JBL are experts at voicing a speaker to optimize the sound with the particular type of tweeter used.
A quality cabinet
The JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker has a long audio-grade MDF cabinet that is well-braced. MDF has good anti-resonance properties and the bracing provides a rigid mounting for the drivers. The bass ports fire to the rear so the speaker can be placed in a cabinet.
Top-quality Crossover components
Crossovers are used in speakers with multiple drivers. They act as filters splitting the audio band. The filters then feed each individual driver. Capacitors and inductors are used and the quality of the capacitors is important. In the past paper dielectrics were used.
This attracted moisture over time. As a result, the capacitors went electrically leaky and changed value. The JBL Stage 245C Centre Speaker uses modern capacitors. These use a polypropylene dielectric that will last for decades.
Quad 4.5-inch (114mm) Polycellulose Ribbed Cone Woofers
Each speaker in the Stage 2 series features Polycellulose ribbed cone woofers. This pure pulp cone has a proprietary mix of other materials added to improve its rigidity and the ribs echo legendary JBL designs. These woofers produce deep, accurate, room filling bass.
1-inch (25mm) Anodized Aluminum Tweeter in a Next Generation HDI™ Waveguide
Through intense research of previous waveguide designs, JBL has developed a new complex geometry that improves directivity, reduced diffraction, and an overall neutral frequency response both on and off axis. The Stage 2 HDI Horn is coupled to an anodized aluminum dome tweeter to enhance efficiency and dynamics.
Precision 2.5-Way Crossover
The 245C center channel model features a unique two and a half-way crossover design. This unique design crosses over the top woofer right below the tweeter’s output, while the other woofer is crossed over at a lower frequency. This creates a dynamic mid-range but both woofers still extend as deep as they can go for powerful bass. This produces cohesive balanced output with a robust low end that can be both heard and felt.
