Product Overview
The JBL Stage 280F Speakers are the flagship floor standers in the range. They have been upgraded with dual 8” bass/mid drivers and a 1” tweeter in a high dispersion waveguide. They have a maximum power of 225 watts and are good for larger rooms.
Also, two rear-firing ports provide thunderous bass with movies and music. Audio grade components are used in the crossover and a plinth lifts the speakers off the floor.
Immerse yourself in unrivaled audio excellence with the JBL Stage 280F floorstanding loudspeakers, meticulously crafted at JBL’s esteemed Acoustic Engineering Center of Excellence in Northridge, California. As the flagship of the JBL Stage Series, the Stage 280F features an advanced 2.5-way design and incorporates the patented Next Generation High-Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide for precise sound reproduction.
Central to its impressive performance are dual 8-inch (200mm) Polycellulose cone woofers that deliver deep, resonant bass, complemented by a 1-inch (25mm) Anodized Aluminum dome tweeter for crisp highs. Whether you’re enjoying music or hosting a movie night, the Stage 280F ensures every detail is heard with rich, immersive audio.
Not just a powerhouse of sound, the Stage 280F is designed to complement your space with its choice of Espresso or Latte woodgrain finishes, solid color front baffles, and matching grilles, adding a touch of elegance to any interior.
8” Polycellulose bass/mid drivers
The larger bass drivers in the JBL Stage 280F Speakers can move lots of air. As a result, the bass is powerful and clear with an extension down to 33 Hz. The cones are made of Polycellulose. This has the best properties of paper pulp cones and polypropylene. As a result, they are more rigid and less susceptible to moisture. They also exhibit lower distortion. Notably, polypropylene cones can be vacuum-formed.
1” Aluminium tweeter and next-gen waveguide
The 1” tweeter in the JBL Stage 280F Speakers sits in a waveguide. The waveguide helps to disperse high frequencies in the listening area. Moreover, the cone is made of anodized aluminium. This is designed to boost the ultra-high frequencies up to 25kHz.
JBL are experts at voicing speakers to optimize the drivers used. Lastly, the tweeter sits at the top of the cabinet to bring it closer to the recommended position at ear level.
A quality anti-resonant cabinet
Larger speakers such as the JBL Stage 280F Speakers need to have a solid and rigid cabinet to avoid vibration and resonances. The cabinet is made of audio-grade MDF that has good audio characteristics. Internal bracing provides solid support for the drivers. Moreover, the two rear-firing bass ports feature flared racetrack configuration that prevents honking and eases the airflow.
Lastly, the speakers are mounted on plinths that isolate the speakers from the floor.
Top-quality Crossover components
The crossover in a speaker is used to split the audio signal into bands. The JBL Stage 280F is a two-way speaker. As a result, the crossover acts like a high pass filter. The crossover frequency is 1.1 Khz or 2.1 Khz in this case.
High-quality components must be used. Previously capacitors had a paper dielectric that deteriorated over time. However modern components have a polypropylene dielectric that will last for decades.
Dual 8-inch (200mm) Polycellulose Ribbed Cone Woofers
The 280F features Polycellulose ribbed cone woofers. This pure pulp cone has a proprietary mix of other materials added to improve its rigidity and the ribs echo legendary JBL designs. These woofers produce deep, accurate, room filling bass.
1-inch (25mm) Anodized Aluminum Tweeter in a Next Generation HDI™ Waveguide
Through intense research of previous waveguide designs, JBL has developed a new complex geometry that improves directivity, reduced diffraction, and an overall neutral frequency response both on and off axis. The Stage 2 HDI Horn is coupled to an anodized aluminum dome tweeter to enhance efficiency and dynamics.
Compatible with 240H Atmos Module
The JBL Stage 280F mates perfectly with the 240H to add Dolby Atmos to your system for an enhanced listening experience. Dedicated Atmos 5-way binding posts hide the wiring and create a seamless appearance.
