Description
Linn Kore Sub-chassis
The Linn Kore Sub-chassis is the mid-range sub-chassis for the LP12, sitting above the standard Majik sub-chassis and below the reference Keel SE. It ships as standard on the Selekt LP12 and is the correct upgrade for Majik LP12 owners looking to take their turntable meaningfully further without committing to a full reference-level rebuild.
The Kore represents the same engineering approach as the flagship Keel — prioritising rigidity and damping control — but realised through a different construction method, at a price that makes it accessible to a wider range of LP12 builds.
Construction
The Kore sub-chassis uses three bonded layers of 1.5mm aluminium, joined with specialist adhesive to create a unified box structure. The bonded assembly behaves more like a single piece than a laminate — once cured, the adhesive locks the layers together so they move as one. The armboard is machined separately from solid aluminium and features reinforcing ribs on its underside; it is then bonded to the sub-chassis assembly to form a complete component.
The arm collar bolts directly to the sub-chassis, providing a short, rigid load path from the tonearm pivot point to the bearing well. This directness in the structure is part of what separates the Kore from the standard Majik sub-chassis, where the connection is less controlled.
The Kore is compatible with a range of tonearms: Ekos SE, Ekos, Arko, Akito, and Ittok in Linn-mount configurations, as well as Rega, SME, and Naim variants in appropriate versions.

What the Upgrade Achieves
Upgrading from the standard Majik sub-chassis to the Kore is one of the most cost-effective performance steps available on the LP12. The improvement is structural and immediate — less energy stored in the sub-chassis means less colouration returned to the cartridge. Bass tightens up, the soundstage becomes more stable, and the rhythmic qualities of the LP12 — its sense of pace and timing — become more pronounced.
The Kore pairs naturally with the Arko tonearm and Kendo cartridge for a Selekt-level specification, and it works well with the Karousel bearing and Lingo or Radikal power supply.
The Linn Kore Sub-chassis is engineered for professional installation only and cannot be purchased online.
To achieve its full performance potential, this precision sub-chassis must be expertly installed and calibrated by our trained and certified Linn engineers.
Professional calibration ensures perfect alignment, optimal tracking, and seamless integration with your turntable and cartridge.

About Linn

Linn was founded in 1973 by Ivor Tiefenbrun. At that time, Ivor was dissatisfied with the performance of the Hi-Fi system he had just purchased after getting married.
He used the resources at his father’s engineering company to fix what he thought was wrong with the design of the system and it was then that the Sondek LP12 turntable was born.
This turntable is regarded as the most popular high-end turntable of all time. Linn has received worldwide acclaim for its quality products including the Royal Warrant award in 2002 and the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2012.
